The Great Kanku-Breakaways Marathon and Fun Run is a fantastic way to see the spectacular spiritual landscape of the Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park. Travelling through the park from the main lookout, past the coloured hills and along the dog fence to turn around and return through the ancient landscape for a community lunch and carnival atmosphere. The event celebrates the cultural connection of the Antakirinja Matuntjara Yankunytjatjara People as both park and traditional owners.
The event continues a tradition of community fun run and marathons that have been occurring in the park since 2009. Jayde Frew and Melissa Rosewarne started the event as a personal challenge and to raise money for community events, today the event raises awareness and gives all visitors a chance to experience the uniqueness of the park without traffic (the event occurs on closed roads and tracks).
The Kanku – Breakaways Marathon will be run on Saturday 16th May 2020 so if you would like to participate or volunteer in this event or would like more information, please contact Alison at firstname.lastname@example.org
